Rajen Kothari's last directorial venture Das Capital is finally set for release


Das Capital had remained in the cans following the death of the well-known cinematographer and director eight years ago.

Rajen Kothari was a well-known cinematographer behind a number of popular Hindi films like Hip Hip Hurray (1984), Damul (1985), Dacait (1987), Pestonjee (1988), Ghayal (1990), Mrityudand (1997), Dil Kya Kare (1999), Zubeidaa (2001) and Welcome To Sajjanpur (2008).

Kothari also ventured into direction with Purush (1994), Panga Naa Lo (2007) and Das Capital: Gulamon Ki Rajdhani. Unfortunately, he died soon after finishing his third film in 2012. And the film was never released.

Now, eight years later, Das Capital is set to be released on the digital platform Cinemapreneur India. The news was shared by Kothari's son Pratik, an actor and assistant director on the film. Das Capital stars Yashpal Sharma and Pratibha Sharma.

The story is set in Bihar and revolves around Purushottam Ram (Yashpal Sharma), an accountant in a government office. With corruption being the unwritten rule, Purushottam is compelled to become part of the system.

Speaking about the film's release, Pratik Kothari said on Facebook, "I am glad that I was a part of this film. I am glad that I could play a small part in releasing this film. And my gratitude to the entire team who gave their unconditional support to this dream my father had seen long back."
