SonyLIV’s new show A Simple Murder is anything but simple.
The web-series is centred on a middle-class man, Parth (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub), who is fed-up of his mundane life where he isn’t making much money and is constantly mocked by his wife (Priya Anand). However, as fate would have it, he gets a chance to earn a huge sum in return for killing a woman, which he successfully pulls off.
Contrary to Parth’s expectations, the assignment changes his life for the worse, with trouble lurking from behind every corner. Parth's victim's boyfriend (Amit Sial) is out to get him while other characters, played by Sushant Singh, Yashpal Sharma, Gopal Datt and Ayaz Khan, also enter the cat and mouse game.
The trailer of A Simple Murder succeeds in providing a heady mixture of crime and dark comedy: On the one hand, there’s the thriller element of Parth running for his life and on the other, we can see two bad guys recreating the song, ‘Kaun Main, Haan Tum’ from Ajnabee (2001).
The casting also needs to be appreciated. Despite this just being a trailer, one can easily see what Ayyub, Sial, Singh and Sharma bring to the table. Sial has been consistently delivering quality performances in a number of web-series currently.
Directed by Sachin Pathak, A Simple Murder will start streaming on SonyLIV from 20 November.
