Vijay Raaz granted bail in molestation case

The actor has been accused of molestation by a female crew member of his upcoming film Sherni.

Actor Vijay Raaz, who was arrested on Monday by the Gondia police for allegedly molesting a female crew member on the sets of his upcoming film Sherni, was granted conditional bail by a local court yesterday.

The woman had filed a police complaint with the Gondia police on Monday night, stating that the actor had molested her in a hotel where the film crew was staying.

Atul Kulkarni, additional SP, Gondia, shared more details about the complaint while speaking to the newspaper The Indian Express. “We collected evidence of the incident and then proceeded to arrest Raaz. There are eye-witnesses among the crew who have spoken to us about the accusation being true,” he said in a statement.

Sherni, which stars Vidya Balan, is being directed by Amit Masurkar, who previously helmed the critically acclaimed Newton (2017). Vidya was last seen in Shakuntala Devi, which released earlier this year on Amazon Prime Video.

The project is being shot in the jungles of Balaghat, in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
