Actor Rahul Roy was admitted to Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital recently following a mini-stroke. He had been shooting for a film titled LAC in Kargil around the time of the incident.
Nitin Kumar Gupta, the director of the film, told the Mumbai Mirror newspaper that Roy had completed his part of the shoot on 23 November but he decided to stay back to enjoy the weather. He was supposed to leave for Kolkata on 28 November. But on Thursday, Gupta realized that Roy was unable to form sentences while speaking.
“Being a doctor myself, I suspected aphasia, which affects speech and immediately took him to a local hospital for a CT scan. The doctors there didn’t say anything but I referred the reports to some doctor friends and one of them suggested it might be a mini-stroke which does not get caught in a CT scan and recommended that we fly him to Mumbai for further treatment,” said Gupta to the publication.
Gupta arranged for a helicopter for Roy to be flown from Kargil to Srinagar and from there to Mumbai.
Speaking about his present condition, Gupta said, “He is currently being treated in Nanavati Hospital. I spoke to his sister and brother, who are by his side, and he is stable. He was even asking when will we start filming for LAC 2.” He also added that Roy will start walking in two days.
Roy is known the most for playing the lead in Mahesh Bhatt’s hit musical Aashiqui (1990). He also appeared in films such as Junoon (1992), Sapne Sajan Ke (1992) and Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee (1993). Around a decade ago, the actor made his Bhojpuri cinema debut. He also emerged the winner of the first season of the television reality show Bigg Boss in 2006.
