Ash King, Priya Saraiya collaborate for wedding single ‘Gajiyo’

It's a traditional Kutchi song that is remade with Gujarati lyrics.

Musical personalities Ash King and Priya Saraiya have a list of films to their credit as singers. The two have now come together to lend their voice to the Gujarati single ‘Gajiyo’. Originally a Kutchi folk song, it is reinterpreted in a modern manner with Gujarati lyrics. The song has been uploaded on Tips Gujarati YouTube channel.

As the song is generally played during marriages, it has been released at a time when the wedding season is in full swing. Not surprisingly, the video features a wedding where young boys and girls are seen enjoying themselves.

Speaking about the song, Saraiya said in an official statement, “‘Gajiyo’ has been my favourite Kutchi song and I love the traditional dhol [drum] beat of it. It’s a humble attempt of introducing our folk songs with a new flavour to this generation,” she said.

She also spoke about working with her fellow singer and music composer. “It was amazing to record with Ash King. His unique voice has added a cool vibe to the song. And of course [the] beautiful melody by Parth Bharat Thakkar keeps the song rooted yet fun,” she said.

Sharing his experience, Thakkar said, “Can’t wait to see people grooving to ‘Gajiyo’ this wedding season! I had a great time creating this one with Priya Saraiya and Ash King! Kudos to Kumar [Taurani] ji, Girish [Taurani] and Tips Music for producing and promoting regional music so well.”
