Shivaji Lotan Patil's comedy film Vajvuya Band Baja, which was premiered on Zee Talkies, will now be released in cinema halls on 11 December. Filmmakers are still hesitant to release their films in theatres after the Indian government permitted cinema halls to be operated at 50% occupancy owing to the poor response from audiences. Meanwhile, some filmmakers have chosen this lull to their advantage by releasing their films in theatres to get maximum screens.
Vajvuya Band Baja is one of those films. Featuring Mangesh Desai, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Chinmay Udgirkar and Pritam Kagne, the film is a comedy about three brothers who are eager to get married. The three brothers are shown to have completely different character traits. The eldest, played Dharmadhikari, is a regular guy, while the youngest brother, played by Udgirkar, is a lady's man.
This will be probably the first Marathi film to have a TV premiere first and then a theatrical release. Even though it's been a month since cinema halls have re-opened in Maharashtra, Marathi filmmakers are still hesitant to release their new films there due to the fear of a poor response from audiences. Films such as Choricha Mamla (2020), Hirkani (2019), Mulshi Pattern (2018) and Natsamrat (2016) are being re-released in theatres to 'occupy' seats.
Vajvuya Band Baja has been produced by Amol Kagne under his production house Amol Kagne Films. This is the fourth production from his banner after Halal (2017), Lathe Joshi (2018) and Perfume (2019).
