The poster for Saptaswa Basu’s upcoming thriller Pratidwandi (2020) features the main characters in their distinctive avatars. Starring Saswata Chatterjee, Rudranil Ghosh, Saayoni Ghosh, Sourav Das and Rini Ghosh, Pratidwandi is a tale of rivalry in the backdrop of a crime-infested city.
Bright in neon colours, the poster gives away the essence of the upcoming film noir. Rudranil plays maths teacher Sukumar Sen. The poster features him with a speculative look on his face, a pen in hand.
With a gun in his hand, Das poses as advocate-cum-detective Siddhartha, who solves crimes along with his associate Jenny (Rini Ghosh).
Saayoni plays a politician in the film, a first for her. She has been lent a rather typical look to emphasize her distinguished position.
Saswata Chatterjee’s look on the poster in the avatar of Doctor Bakshi expresses anxiousness. Chatterjee also played the protagonist in Basu's debut film Network (2018), where he played the arch rival of Sabysachi Chakraborty's character.
While the rivalry in Basu's second film appears to be between Sen and Dr Bakshi, Siddhartha and Jenny delve into the case that is somehow linked with the rising number of abductions and murders in the city.
The profile of each of the characters seems interesting as their respective professions seem to have a strong connection with the composition of the thriller.
Pratidwandi is slated for release this Christmas.
