The trailer for Abir Sengupta's romantic comedy Indoo Ki Jawani is out and it appears to be a complete laughter ride filled with misadventures.
The film features Kiara Advani as Indoo Gupta from Ghaziabad, near Delhi, who, on the recommendation of best friend Sonal (Mallika Dua), turns to an online dating app to find the love of her life.
The trailer begins with Advani introducing herself as Indira Gupta aka Indoo. In a voice-over, she tells us about her desperation to lose her single status. On her best friend's advice, she joins a dating application to look for love. We then see Aditya Seal make an entry and charm Indoo with his good looks. However, there is a twist.
After several failed attempts to seduce Samar, Indoo finds out that he is a Pakistani national. This is followed by a news bulletin which informs viewers that suspected terrorists from Pakistan have infiltrated the city and are hiding, waiting for the moment to strike.
Although Samar proclaims his innocence, saying, “Madam, mujhe koi attack nahi karna [I am not planning any attack], I am not a terrorist!”, Indoo remains suspicious of him and his motives. We also see the banter between them over the Indian and Pakistani cricket teams.
We get the basic idea of the film's plot and general tone from the trailer. It seems to be a comedy with a little dose of romance.
Indoo Ki Jawani has been written and directed by Abir Sengupta who is making his feature filmmaking debut. The film has been produced by Bhushan Kumar, Divya Khosla Kumar, Madhu Bhojwani and Nikkhil Advani and is scheduled to be released in theatres across India on 11 December.
