Ileana D’Cruz, Randeep Hooda and director Balwinder Singh Janjua have wrapped up the shooting of their satire Unfair N Lovely in less than a month. Shooting for the film had begun on 30 October.
Janjua announced the news on Instagram. Posting a happy picture of himself with D'Cruz and Hooda, the director wrote, “It’s a wrap for my lovelies Ileana D’Cruz and Randeep Hooda and for team Unfair N Lovely. Here’s to an ending that’s a new and fun beginning!”
As is evident from the title, Unfair N Lovely is based on India’s obsession with fair skin. Produced by Sony Pictures India, the film marks Janjua’s directorial debut. Before directing this film, Janjua had been a screenwriter on films like Mubarakan (2017) and Saand Ki Aankh (2019).
When the film was announced last month, D'Cruz had said that it puts forth its point in a funny way. “What I love about the film is that its narrative isn’t preachy," she said, "it’s a funny story that will leave viewers laughing. The team at Sony Pictures India and Balwinder Singh Janjua have made sure this subject is treated with a lot of sensitivity while keeping it as humorous as possible.”
Unfair N Lovely will be released next year.
