A well-to-do young woman panics after a life-changing moment and decides the best way to cope is by trying her hand at stand-up comedy. This isn’t Amazon Prime’s The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, but actress Swara Bhasker channelling it lead character who discovers her calling as a comedian.
The Netflix series finds Bindiya Akankshi Bhatnagar, nicknamed Beanie, at a crossroads once her fiancé (Varun Thakur) proposes. Her family is overjoyed, to say the least, but Beanie finds herself growing claustrophobic and eventually running away.
She finds her solace on the stage, meeting another comedian, played by Ravi Patel. She announces to her fiancé and shocked family that she is going to give comedy a shot. The trailer shows us some of her attempts, which doesn’t feel very organic compared to The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. However, since this is just a preview of the series, there is a lot that could be forthcoming.
Bhaag Beanie Bhaag, which also stars Dolly Singh and Girish Kulkarni, is due to be released on 4 December on Netflix. Check out the trailer below and let us know if you are keen on watching the series.
