Actor Prabhas’s upcoming magnum opus Adipurush, which will be a modern-day adaptation of the Ramayana, will hit screens worldwide on 11 August 2022, its makers revealed today with a poster.
The film, which will be directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series, will star Saif Ali Khan as the antagonist.
Sharing a poster of Adipurush, Prabhas announced the release date of the film on Instagram.
Tipped to be made on a huge budget of Rs400 crore, Adipurush will go on the floor in January next year. It was revealed recently that Prabhas will be seen playing lord Rama in the film while Saif Ali Khan will be seen as Ravana.
Talking about the project, Prabhas had said in a statement: “Every role and every character comes with its own challenges, but portraying a character like this comes with tremendous responsibility and pride. I am very excited to portray this character from our epic specially the way Om has designed it. I am sure the youth of our country will shower all their love on our film.”
The makers are yet to reveal the rest of the cast and crew as talks are underway with several leading artistes from Hindi cinema to play crucial roles.
Recent reports suggested that Keerthy Suresh had been signed as the leading lady, but there has been no official announcement yet. Kiara Advani’s name is also being mentioned.
Prabhas, meanwhile, is busy wrapping up his upcoming project Radhe Shyam, which is tipped to be a period romantic tale set in the 1950s. Pooja Hegde plays the leading lady.
Prabhas also has an untitled science-fiction film with Mahanati (2018) director Nag Ashwin in his kitty.
