The song 'Darling Tu' from Sameer Asha Patil's upcoming Marathi movie Darling is a typical fast-tempo dance number.
Shot outdoors, the song, which features the film's main cast — Prathamesh Parab, Ritika Shrotri, and Nikkhhil Chavaan — incorporates the frantic beats and rustic vocal stylings that have become synonymous with Marathi dance numbers.
Chinar-Mahesh's composition is derivative and lacks novelty, and one gets the feeling that it's merely a pastiche of songs we have heard before.
Singer Ravindra Khomne's vocals perfectly fit the frenetic energy of the song. It also helps that his voice sometimes resembles that of popular Marathi singer Adarsh Shinde, who is known for belting out such tracks.
Parab and Chavaan's characters are in love with Shrotri's and are trying their best to woo her with their moves. The woman has nothing much to do except serve as a vision of beauty, which she pulls off. In fact, at times she seems like a figment of their imagination.
'Darling Tu' appears to be the kind of song that makes it to the top of the charts only to fade into oblivion after a week or so.
Darling is produced by Amit Dhupe, Ajay Thakur, VJ Shalaka, and Nikhil Khajindar. The film is scheduled for release on 7 January 2021.
