Sikandar Kher succeeded in impressing audiences with his performance as Daulat in the acclaimed web-series Aarya (2020), which starred Sushmita Sen. He is now all set to play another unusual character in Zee5 and ALTBalaji’s upcoming web-series Mum Bhai.
Kher plays a South Indian don, Rama Shetty, in the period underworld drama. He spoke about his character in an online press conference last evening. “The first thing that I have to say about my character Rama Shetty is the fact that it’s a really well-written role. Since he wasn’t based on anybody, I had the complete liberty to paint the picture that I wanted,” he said.
Kher, who was unrecognizable in the film Tere Bin Laden: Dead Or Alive (2016), has undergone another makeover for Mum Bhai. “When you get into the get-up of such a character, the look also helps an actor feel what he is actually going through. It helps you change your mannerisms and entire body language and helps to sink into the character very easily. All these things have come into play and allowed me to perform to the best of my abilities,” he added.
Trishna Mukherjee plays Kher’s wife in the series. Speaking about the challenge she had in front of her, she said, “While I have played a lot of tough characters compared to Meera Shetty, the most important thing for me here was to match up to my husband Rama Shetty in every frame.”
But getting a South Indian accent wasn’t a big deal for her. “With both of us playing South Indians, getting a hold of the dialect was not that difficult as I had done a South Indian film very recently. It was honestly nice to be part of such a show. I am glad that I got the chance to work with such talented and supportive co-actors,” she added.
Mum Bhai will start streaming 12 November on Zee5 and ALTBalaji.
