The Zee5 original film, Ghoomketu, coming right on the heels of the OTT platform's Bamfad (2020) and Ateet (2020), will be streamed from 22 May onwards. Featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the titular role of Ghoomketu, the film is a comedy drama, written from the perspective of an inexperienced writer struggling to make it big in Mumbai's film industry. On his quest to come up with a great story, he is inspired by the daily mundane activities of life.
Earlier, Siddiqui had described Ghoomketu as a quirky and never-before-seen character. The actor is glad that the film will finally be available to the audience. "Ghoomketu has a phenomenal storyline, which will definitely entertain the audience. During this time of the lockdown, I am glad that a humorous film, which the entire family can watch, is being streamed on Zee5,” he said.
The film also stars director Anurag Kashyap, veteran actress Ila Arun as Ghoomketu’s aunt, along with Raghubir Yadav, Swanand Kirkire and Ragini Khanna. It also has special cameo appearances by Amitabh Bachchan, Ranveer Singh, Sonakshi Sinha, Chitrangada Singh, Lauren Gottlieb, and filmmaker Nikkhil Advani.
Siddiqui and Kashyap have worked together on numerous projects. But the dynamic has always been that of an actor and director. This is the first time Siddiqui and Kashyap will be sharing screen space. "Anurag, who is generally behind the camera, will be seen sharing screen space with us and it was a great experience to work with him as an actor," said Siddiqui.
Kashyap, who plays the role of a cop in the film, said: “Every film is a labour of love and I saw the conviction in the director of Ghoomketu and hence, decided to do something, which is my least favorite thing to do, which is act. The film is funny and heartwarming.”
Directed by Pushpendra Nath Misra and produced by Phantom Films and Sony Pictures Networks (SPN), Ghoomketu will premiere on Zee5 on 22 May.
