Did Arjun Kapoor confirm the online release of Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar?

In a recent conversation with an entertainment website, the actor indirectly indicated that the movie, directed by Dibakar Banerjee, may be released on an OTT platform.

The coronavirus lockdown has disrupted the release of a large number of forthcoming films, including Yash Raj Films’ Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, which stars Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra in the lead.

Talking about the delay, in March, the banner had said on Twitter, “Given the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the country, we have decided to postpone the release of Dibakar Banerjee’s Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar. The health and safety of everyone is of utmost importance at this time.”

But there have been recent reports about Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar releasing directly on an OTT platform. Kapoor too has indirectly indicated that the film, directed by Dibakar Banerjee, may be released online.

During a conversation with the entertainment website Pink Villa, the actor said, “I am not involved in the selling and buying of any of my films. My producers are more involved with that bit. That is a reality for certain films that might choose that path. I don’t see anything wrong with that. As an artiste, if you look at the purity of it right now, the medium is not important. Getting your material out there is important. And for that, if certain films have to be released on digital, I don’t see anything wrong in it.”

During a group chat involving Cinestaan.com before the release of his last film Panipat (2019), Kapoor had assured that Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar would be released in theatres and not directly on an OTT platform.

But as we all know, things have changed dramatically because of the pandemic.
