The thriller web-series reportedly revolves around a remote village that becomes the centre for a battle with a two-century-old betaal (spirit) of a British officer. The officer leads his zombie battalion against the counter-insurgency division and the hapless villagers.
Blumhouse Television and SK Entertainment are the executive producers of the web-series which is produced by Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment. Betaal is part of five originals, including a production by Anushka Sharma, to be launched by Netflix.
Betaal is directed by Patrick Graham, who also helmed the Netflix original movie Ghoul (2018).
