Paoli Dam plays a mother who fights against all odds to save her son in Kaali 2

Kaali 2, the second season of the critically acclaimed Zee5 original web-series, will start streaming on the OTT patform from today. The bilingual series, in Bengali and Hindi, has a powerful cast lead by Paoli Dam, Rahul Banerjee, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Abhishek Banerjee and Vidya Malvade.

The series is known for exploring women's empowerment in the midst of crime and darkness. It depicts the manner in which feminine energy reaches its maximum potential in times of acute desperation.

Dam plays a helpless mother, who is using every means at her disposal to save her son, who has just a few hours of oxygen left in his tank. Duing such a desperate moment, she gets caught in an interrogation with the police and lands up in custody.

In a parallel narrative, a dangerous criminal escapes prison and a drug consignment reaches the city. While Kaali manages to escape custody, she gets caught in a gang war and eventually reaches out to her sole source of hope.

“I have the utmost respect for every woman in the country who is trying to fight for their truth. I believe Kaali is a symbol of hope and power. My character is compassionate and perseveres in a fight against the odds to save her son. A mother's love is second to none and Kaali gets her strength from it,” said Dam, in a statement released by her PR team.

She also spoke of how she finds her mother exhibiting similar power and nurturing qualities. “I am inspired by my mother every day, she is the strongest person in my life, she is my Kaali, the shakti of my life. Kaali 2 releases on Zee5 today, and I urge every woman in the country to join Kaali in her fight for truth and let's together unleash the Kaali within ourselves,” added the actress.
