Actor Sonu Sood has been trending since last week for his valiant efforts in helping migrant labourers and workers go home. Actress Swara Bhasker too has been doing her bit for the migrants who are still stranded in and around Delhi.

Bhasker started off on 21 May, when she shared a Google form on Twitter and announced her offer to help. She wrote [translated from Hindi], “If you know any migrant labourers in Delhi or around, who wish to go back to their homes in Uttar Pradesh or Bihar, please fill up this form with their name, mobile number, destination and where they are currently. Our volunteers will help you.”

Few days later on 25 May, Bhasker tied up with footwear brands, Action Shoes and the campaign Karwan-e-Mohabbat to provide shoes to the migrants. She posted pictures of shoe distribution and wrote, “Heartfelt thanks to Action Shoes, Athleo Shoes and Vishesh Agarwal. Through their initiative and members from Karwan-e-Mohabbat, we distributed 500 pairs of footwear to migrant labourers at Delhi’s Anand Vihar Terminal and Khanpur Bus Depot. We hope they reach their destination safe and sound.”

Bhasker has been taking stock of the situation regularly on Twitter by replying to a number of people who are providing information about stranded migrant labourers. In one of her tweets, she thanked Delhi's Aam Aadmi Party MLA, Dilip K Pandey for helping her in the cause. According to reports, Bhasker’s efforts have helped 1,300 migrants reach their native place.

As expected, Bhasker is also receiving hate comments, and like always, she has been giving them fitting replies.
