After Ghoomketu (2020), it’s the turn of family drama Chintu Ka Birthday to make its way to an OTT (over-the-top) platform. The film, directed by brothers Satyanshu and Devanshu Singh, will be released on Zee5 on 5 June.
The current lockdown has opened avenues for films that were made a few years ago but never officially released. Chintu Ka Birthday was premiered last year at the multi-city Jagran Film Festival across India and also had special screenings across several cities.
Next month, it will be available for everyone to watch. Co-director Satyanshu invited everyone to Chintu’s birthday party yesterday on Twitter.
More than 13 years ago, @KDevanshuSingh and I decided to throw an exciting birthday party. For Chintu.

Today, we formally invite all of you, and we invite the innocence, the faith, the goodness that lies deep within you, to this party. Will you join us? On June 5? On @ZEE5India? pic.twitter.com/rjWfs9ZBSg
Starring Vinay Pathak, Tillotama Shome and Seema Pahwa, the film is set in war-torn Iraq in 2004. The Tiwari family is trying to celebrate the sixth birthday of Chintu (Vedant Raj Chibber), but obstacles keep coming in the way. Will Chintu get the celebration he so richly deserves?
In a statement, co-director Devanshu stated, “We have grown up watching how our parents put our needs above theirs, sacrificing for us in ways big and small.” His brother Satyanshu added, “The film for us is a beautiful confluence of two realities — the family life we have lived back home in Bihar and the influence of world cinema.”
