BJP MLA files complaint against Anushka Sharma for using his picture in Paatal Lok without permission

Amazon Prime Video’s latest web-series Paatal Lok has been receiving rave reviews from both audiences and critics. But it has also received a lot of flak from various quarters for its content. Earlier this month, the Gorkhas were up in arms against the show for allegedly showing Nepalis in bad light. Now, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator in Uttar Pradesh has filed a complaint against producer Anushka Sharma for using his picture in the show without permission.

Nandkishor Gurjar, member of the state legislative assembly, filed his complaint at the Loni police station in Ghaziabad district, bordering Delhi. Gurjar's complaint refers to a scene in which a photograph of the Uttar Pradesh chief minister inaugurating a highway in Ghaziabad in 2018 has been used. The chief minister is seen surounded by other BJP politicians in the picture, including Gurjar. 

While the makers have morphed the picture of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and replaced it with that of the character from the series called Bajpayee, played by Anup Jalota, they have retained the images of others around him. This is what has irked the legislator.

Gurjar slammed Paatal Lok in a series of tweets. He alleged that the makers of the show had shown 'Sanatan Dharm’ and the castes under it in bad light.

While calling the series ‘anti-national,’ he alleged that it had given a clean chit to Pakistan, its Inter-Services Intelligence and the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba.

That’s not all. Gurjar has also slammed the show for allegedly showing Hindus as mob-lynchers and objected to them being linked with the ruffians who brought down the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya in December 1992.

In yet another tweet, he called for a ban on Paatal Lok.
