Super cyclone Amphan wreaked havoc in large parts of southern West Bengal, especially Kolkata. With thousands of trees and electric poles uprooted and damaged, major areas of the city are still without electricity or phone and internet connections.
Several artistes, including Sudiptaa Chakraborty and Rwitobroto Mukherjee, have been posting on Facebook about the ordeal as and when they are able to log in. While Kaushik Sen and Chakraborty managed to get electricity back in their localities after more than 50 and 90 hours, respectively, by continuously urging those in authority, Mukherjee said no attention is being paid to the area he lives in since the day the storm hit the region.
“No matter who was in power, who is currently serving the chair and who is going to be in power in future, no one is bothered," the young actor said. "It’s now 144 hours that there has been no electricity, water supply, or network connection. I am only getting an erratic internet connection at times.” Given his lack of a rapport with the authorities, Mukherjee is quite sure it will be difficult to get the problem resolved any time soon.

Chakraborty, on the other hand, kept calling CESC Power Limited, Kolkata's power utility, for more than 90 hours till the connections started working in her area. However, she has not stopped at having the electricity restored in her area; she has come out in support of many other localities and raised her voice. “I’ll keep calling them until everyone gets the power back. That’s a promise,” she said.
