Madhuri Dixit Nene has impressed Hindi cinema fans over the decades with her dramatic performances. But at the ‘I For India’ online concert held earlier this month, the actress wowed everyone with her rendition of Ed Sheeran’s English number, ‘Perfect.’

She continues her foray into the world of singing with her first single, ‘Candle,’ which has just been released online. The English number is a tribute to all those fighting in the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic, risking their lives for the good of all.

The actress sounds impressive and at ease in the song. This is her first professional assignment as a singer and she has made a good start. In the film Devdas (2002), the actress had recited a poem as part of the song ‘Kaahe Chhed Mohe’, which as close as she got to singing.

As expected, the video has images of people with masks on their faces along with the scenes of despair and gloom because of the pandemic. However, the scenes of Nene singing don’t look like they have been shot at her place.

Speaking about the song, the actress said in an official statement, “The song, 'Candle' showcases a glimpse of my journey so far, which has been full of surprises, struggles, celebrations and soul searching. But the one thing that ties this journey together is love and hope that everything happens for all the right reasons. I just hope that ‘Candle’ motivates all my fans out there to stay strong and burn brightly no matter what obstacles they face.”
