After the success of Fukrey (2013) and Fukrey 2 (2017), it was a given that the makers will come out with the third film in the franchise. In March 2019, producer Ritesh Sidhwani confirmed that Fukrey 3 is in the making. “[Writer] Vipul Vig is currently working on the script of Fukrey 3,” Sidhwani had said to the Mumbai Mirror newspaper. It is now learnt that not only is the film all set to roll out, but the makers are thinking of adding the ongoing COVID-19 crisis to the storyline.
While speaking with the news agency Press Trust of India (PTI), director Mrigdeep Singh Lamba said, “This part too will have a strong message that people will take away and it will be delivered in a humorous way. The original story doesn’t mention it (COVID-19). But we have been contemplating. We have discussed it. We need to be careful how we show it. It shouldn’t seem forceful.”
Lamba further said, “We are toying with the idea to do (something) on COVID-19 or the current situation in a humorous way. We will definitely do something about it. We will make something. We need to crack the right idea.”
Produced by Excel Entertainment, the Fukrey series stars Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Richa Chadha, Ali Fazal, Manjot Singh, Vishakha Singh, Pankaj Tripathi and Priya Anand.
