Christopher Nolan might be the first major filmmaker to have a film arrive in theatres post the lockdown. The filmmaker has released the second new trailer for his upcoming film, Tenet, featuring John David Washington and Robert Pattinson as spies looking to prevent a world event by tapping into time. The trailer also has an Indian connection in Dimple Kapadia, who makes a blink-and-miss appearance in the trailer.
The trailer has all of the mystery and heavy-duty science fiction elements that have become common to a Nolan film landscape. The filmmaker again returns to his favourite theme of time, with Washington playing a spy tasked with stopping the Russian villain played by Kenneth Branagh. The only thing he has on his side is his ability of ''inversion'' or reversing time events. His job, as the scientist played by Clemence Poesy says, is to stop World War III.
On the way, Washington finds help in several sources like Pattinson, Michael Caine, and Kapadia. The actress joined the cast in May 2019 in Mumbai, and was also spotted shooting with the cast in London.
The actress has a blink-and-miss scene, although she seems to be playing a key role in the adventure. Her line, ''There will be people in the future who may need us, who need Tenet," suggests more to her role than is seen in the trailer.
Incidentally, Tenet was scheduled to release in theatres on 17 July. If things remain the same, the film could become one of the first films to open in theatres post the lockdown. However, the new trailer of the film does not show any release date, although the caption does suggest the film will ''come to theatres''.
