IMPPA urges producers to clear all pending dues of technicians, artistes and workers

The lockdown imposed to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has had its worst impact on daily-wage workerrs across the country. The film industry also uses the services of a large number of workers on a daily payment basis, most of whom have been without work or income since the lockdown began two months ago.

Seeking to remedy this, the Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association (IMPPA) has urged its members to pay up pending dues to the technicians and workers whose services they used before the lockdown.

In a letter signed by secretary Anil Nagrath on behalf of president TP Aggarwal, the IMPPA said, “All members are requested to do the needful and pay the dues of their employees, workers, artistes and technicians as soon as possible to enable them to survive with dignity in these difficult times.” 

The letter also took into account the losses producers are facing because of the lockdown. “But on humanitarian grounds we request all our members, who have taken work from any of their employees, workers, artistes and technicians for any of their productions to clear their dues as much as possible, as they are more vulnerable in these trying times and to ensure that they get enough money to fulfil their daily needs,” added the letter.
