When a young boy asks him what he does, Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Ghoomketu answers, "I struggle." The long-delayed film features Siddiqui as yet another hopeful who arrives in Mumbai, the film capital of India, hoping to make it big. His father and aunt, played respectively by Raghuvir Yadav and Ila Arun, have differing expectations from him, while all Ghoomketu has is stars in his eyes.
Speaking of stars, the film features some prominent cameos by Amitabh Bachchan, Ranveer Singh, Sonakshi Sinha and Chitrangda Singh. Ragini Khanna and Richa Chadha are also part of the film.
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is a police officer who has one month to find him, meanwhile Ghoomketu, too, seems to have one month to make it big as a scriptwriter as his funds will run dry.
Despite the many rejections he faces, Ghoomketu remains good natured, while Kashyap's Satyakaam grows more and more frustrated. And all the while, the two are neighbours!
The film sets up many comedic scenarios where the naive Ghoomketu goes to meet people, hoping they will read his script. While his quest remains promising, the film definitely looks dated.
Directed by Pushpendra Nath Misra, Ghoomketu will premiere on Zee5 on 22 May. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
