After Shoojit Sircar’s Gulabo Sitabo (2020) yesterday, it is the turn of the Vidya Balan-starrer Shakuntala Devi to go for a release directly on the OTT (over-the-top) platform Amazon Prime Video.
The announcement was made by Vidya herself on Instagram. She shared a new poster of the film and wrote, 'Delighted to announce that you will get to see Shakuntala Devi very soon on Amazon Prime Video with all your loved ones. Thrilled that we will be able to entertain you in these unprecedented times.'
The release date of the film has not been revealed yet.
The announcement came even as exhibitors were expressing unhappiness with the move to release Gulabo Sitabo digitally.
Directed by Anu Menon, Shakuntala Devi is based on the mathematics genius who was also known as the human computer and who found a place in the Guinness Book of Records for her extraordinary skills with numbers.
The film also stars Sanya Malhotra, Amit Sadh and Jisshu Sengupta.
