Sandeep Mohan’s Nirmal Anand Ki Puppy is based in contemporary times, but the song ‘Main Sheher Ki Madhurani’ from the film is a throwback to the 1960s in terms of the lyrics, singing style, music and picturization.
The song features the characters of Khushboo Upadhyay and Karanveer Khullar and it takes place during the shoot of their film. It’s a fun number where both characters recite their situation in life.
The song instantly takes you back to the 1960s era, all thanks to Kunal Kundu’s chirpy lyrics and foot-tapping music. Sangeeta Kundu’s spunky vocals are perfect for the song and go well with the character. Arun Kumar’s voice also succeeds in recreating the old-world charm.
Upadhyay provides a cheerful and carefree act as the cab passenger. Khullar provides good support as the reluctant taxi driver who opens up later. Their unusual chemistry was vital to get the desired result. In between, we are also shown images of Khullar's wife Sara (Gillian Pinto).
Nirmal Anand Ki Puppy is about Nirmal, played by Khullar, who is dissatisfied with both his professional and personal life. His life takes a huge turn when he gets to star in an independent film. However, this creates a new issue between him and Sara.
