This enactment of Irrfan Khan’s letter from hospital is a moving tribute

The sudden death of renowned actor Irrfan Khan came as a blow not just for film lovers in India but all over the world. To see tributes pouring in more than a week after his passing is proof enough.

The actor's death also triggered a large number of video tributes. One such tribute that stands out is Gujarati theatre and film actor Nischay Rana’s visual representation of Irrfan Khan’s now-famous letter from London in which he expressed his thoughts after being diagnosed with a rare tumour back in 2018.

Rana has recited an edited excerpt from the letter in a one-take video which he has shared on YouTube and social media. The letter had its light-hearted as well as emotional moments, and Rana brings out the various emotions with reasonably good diction and dialogue delivery as well as expressions that cannot fail to move the viewer.

This is not the first tribute by Rana. The young Baroda-based actor has been regularly posting his impressions of popular scenes from movies on his YouTube channel. Like Kartik Aaryan’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2010) monologue and Kay Kay Menon’s scenes from Shaurya (2008) and the Marathi film Ek Sangaychay (2018). He has also done his own video of Irrfan Khan’s scene from Rog (2005).

Rana has acted in the Gujarati film Affraa Taffri (2020) and will appear in upcoming movies Rang Jo Lagyo and Sara Bhai. He will also be seen playing the main character in the upcoming Hindi movie Adrashya.
