Sonu Sood arranges 10 buses for migrants stuck in Mumbai

One of the major crises of the lockdown presently in place has been that of sending migrants back to their homes. Actor Sonu Sood helped some of the migrants stranded in Mumbai head back to their homes in Karnataka by arranging buses of his own accord. 

The actor paid for transport by arranging ten buses to help several migrants stranded by the lockdown head back home to Karnataka. The buses left from Thane, Mumbai, to Gulbarga, Karnataka on Monday.

In a statement released by the actor, he said, "I strongly believe that in the current time when we are all facing this global health calamity, every Indian deserves to be with their families and dear ones. I have taken official permission from the Maharashtra and Karnataka governments to help these migrants reach home in about ten buses."

The statement read further, "The Maharashtra government officials were very helpful in terms of orgainising the paperwork and a special mention to the Karnataka government for welcoming the migrants back home. It was really moving for me to watch these migrants walking on roads, including the little kids and old parents. I shall continue doing the same for other states as well to the best of my abilities."

The actor had earlier provided for 1,500 PPE kits for medical professionals in Punjab, as well as letting out his Mumbai hotel for use as an accommodation for frontline health workers in Mumbai.
