Neighbours trailer: A normal love story gets an alien twist

We have often seen Hollwood films about aliens visiting Earth, mostly to destroy it. But we have hardly seen aliens in Indian films. In fact, the last such film one can recall is Rakesh Roshan’s Koi Mil Gaya (2003). Now for the first time we will see a film with aliens in Marathi. 

Upcoming Marathi movie, Neighbours (2020) will see an alien, who takes a human form. Chetan Chitnis is an aspiring actor, even though he is not great at it. One day, a beautiful girl (Krutika Gaikwad) comes to live in the neighbouring apartment. They become good friends and as time passes, he starts to fall in love with her. However, he is unaware of the fact that she is an alien, who has come to Earth on a secret mission

Marathi cinema is not known for exploring the sci-fi genre, let alone tackling a subject about extra-terrestrial creatures, but the trailer looks promising. It seems that Neighbours is a romantic comedy with enough sci-fi elements. Both Chitnis and Gaikwad, who play neighbours in the film, are relatively new to Marathi cinema.

Neighbours is directed by first-time filmmaker Vinay Shrirang Gholap. Produced by Hitesh Patel and Kalpana Rolling Production, the film is slated to be released on 20 March.
