Akshay Kumar is the latest star to donate money to help out those affected by the national lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The actor announced on Saturday that he will be donating Rs25 crore to the public charitable trust, Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund).
The actor tweeted: 'This is that time when all that matters is the lives of our people. And we need to do anything and everything it takes. I pledge to contribute Rs25 crore from my savings to Narendra Modi’s PM-CARES Fund.'

Akshay Kumar’s film, Sooryavanshi (2020), directed by Rohit Shetty, was originally due to be released last week but had to be postponed indefinitely once the number of coronavirus cases began to rise in the country.
