Ditipriya Roy, popular Bengali television actress, is all set to make her debut in Hindi films with Bob Biswas (2020), directed by Diya Annapurna Ghosh and starring Abhishek Bachchan in the lead.

Roy has recently acted in Subhrajit Mitra’s Avijatrik (2020), based on Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay’s Pather Panchali and Aparajito. In the film, she will be seen as Apu’s wife, Aparna. She is primarily known for her portrayal of Rani Rashmoni in the Bengali television series, Korunamoyee Rani Rashmoni.

Bob Biswas is based on Saswata Chatterjee’s character of a serial killer in Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani (2012). The casting of Bachchan in the film instead of Chatterjee, attracted a lot of criticism. Chatterjee had breathed life into the character of Bob Biswas, with his unique body language and facial expression, which gave a comical touch to his character, besides making it memorable.

The actress is yet to disclose her character in the film, but is excited about her making her debut in Hindi films. A few days ago, Bachchan visited Kolkata for shooting some portions of the film.

Roy, who is still a school student, is known for convincingly portraying Rani Rashmoni, a character who is twice her age. The series has been consistently topping the TRP charts. The actress made her debut with the Bengali television series, Durga. She has also appeared in Aparajito and Srijit Mukherji’s Rajkahini as a child artiste.
