In a video message, Chiranjeevi said the reason he had decided to join social media (Twitter and Instagram) was because “I want to share my opinion or any message directly to my fans through this medium”.
He tweeted that the '21-day lockdown is an inevitable measure taken by the government of India for the well-being of each one of us Indians. It is the need of the hour. Let us stand with our beloved PM Shri Narendra Modi to secure ourselves, our families and our country.'
Chiranjeevi has been shooting for his upcoming Telugu film, Acharya, in which he is rumoured to be playing dual roles. The film is being directed by Koratala Siva.
The movie will be about a middle-aged Naxalite-turned-social reformer who launches a fight against the endowments department of the state government over misappropriation and embezzlement of temple funds and donations. Ram Charan was earlier tipped to play Chiranjeevi’s younger version in the flashback portions, but with the star busy with SS Rajamouli's RRR, superstar Mahesh Babu has reportedly been approached for the extended cameo.
The project was officially launched last October. The film will have cinematography by Tirru while A Sreekar Prasad will take care of the editing. Suresh Selvarajan is handling the production design.
Trisha was signed as the leading lady. However, she recently opted out of the project owing to creative differences. The makers are yet to find her replacement; however, reliable sources have said Kajal Aggarwal has been brought on board.
Jointly produced by Konidela Production Company and Matinee Entertainments, the film marks the maiden collaboration of Chiranjeevi and Koratala Siva. Reportedly, the makers are spending a whopping Rs140 crore on the project.
