Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Karan Johar were among the many from the Hindi film industry, who stepped out to appreciate the work of essential service providers at the end of the mandatory Janta curfew declared by the Indian government on Sunday.

Kumar and Hrithik Roshan, neighbours at their beach properties in Juhu, stepped out with producer Sajid Nadiadwala, and clapped in appreciation of the people working relentlessly despite the coronavirus epidemic in the country.

Actor Varun Dhawan and father David Dhawan also stepped out to the balcony of their residence at 5 pm to celebrate the end of the curfew called by the state and central government.  Also seen on their balconies clapping in appreciation were Anil Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor.

Director Karan Johar took to Instagram to post a video of himself with mother, Hiroo Johar, and his two kids, Yash and Roohi, celebrating the end of the curfew by banging on pots and pans.

An ambassador of the government health services, Amitabh Bachchan shared a picture of himself with son, Abhishek Bachchan, daughter-in-law, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and granddaughter, Araadhya, as they too joined the gathering on the streets to celebrate the end of the curfew.

In view of the rising number of infected patients across India, the government introduced the radical step of asking people to stay quarantined for a whole day on Sunday, to avoid gatherings of large numbers on the streets.

Ranaut, a strong supporter of the current government, was also among the many who lauded the efforts of the health and sanitation workers and other essential service providers.

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, who have been quarantined at home, also took to their balcony to clap along with a large majority of people as soon as the curfew ended at 5pm.

In addition to the one-day lockdown on Sunday, several state governments, including those of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi and Kerala, have announced a lockdown of major districts to gain control of the coronavirus epidemic in the country.
