Coronavirus update: Hridpindo, Guldasta postponed indefinitely

Both films were set to be released on 24 April.

The release dates of Shieladitya Moulik’s upcoming romantic drama, Hridpindo (2020) and Arjunn Dutta’s Guldasta (2020), have been postponed indefinitely because of the coronavirus outbreak.

On 17 March, the Eastern Indian Motion Pictures Association issued a directive to shut down all single-screen theatres as well as multiplexes till 31 March, despite apprehensions of a huge loss for the Bengali film industry. The organisation also called for a halt to all shootings for film, television and web-series till March 31.

Following the guidelines, Raj Chakraborty Productions also postponed the release of Dharmajuddha (2020) and the shooting schedules of many other films, including Srimanta Sengupta’s Abar Bochhor Koori Pore have been stalled. Both Hridpindo and Guldasta were previously set to be released on 24 April.

Arpita Pal Chatterjee, who plays the lead role in both films, took to Twitter to urge people to stay at home and prevent the spread of the virus. Hridpindo also features Saheb Chatterjee and Prantik Banerjee in important roles.

Roop Production and Entertainment announced that all outdoor promotions of Guldasta, also featuring  Swastika Mukherjee and Debjani Chatterjee, have been delayed. All further announcements will be made after 3 April.

According to a recent report, two residents of Kolkata have tested positive for the disease. So far, 206 people have tested positive in India.
