The Taapsee Pannu-starrer Thappad (2020) ended its first weekend at the box office with Rs13.75 crore nett, according to figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com. It had a less-than-stellar first day with only Rs2.75 crore earned.

However, the film's earnings showed good growth on Saturday, with Rs4.75 crore nett, and Sunday, with Rs6.25 crore nett. It received strong word-of-mouth buzz over the weekend and looks likely to do better than films like Saand Ki Aankh (2019), Panga (2020) and Chhapaak (2020) if it holds well on its first Monday.

However, Anubhav Sinha's film will face a stiff challenge at the box office this Friday with the release of Baaghi 3 (2020), starring Tiger Shroff.

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan completed its second weekend with Rs8 crore nett, taking its total collection to Rs49.50 crore nett, according to figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com. The collections for the Hitesh Kewalya film can be deemed decent, but the film is by no means an outright hit, especially when compared with recent films starring Ayushmann Khurrana.

The gay rom-com could hit the Rs60 crore mark by the end of the week, where it will also come up against Baaghi 3.

Meanwhile, Bhoot: The Haunted Ship (2020), starring Vicky Kaushal, made Rs4.50 crore nett on its second weekend for a total domestic collection of Rs27 crore. It did better on Saturday (Rs1.50 crore nett) and Sunday (Rs2 crore nett), than on its second Friday, where it made only Rs90 lakh.

Finally, the Ajay Devgn-starrer Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (2020), earned Rs90 lakh in its eighth weekend. The historical film, directed by Om Raut, has continued its strong run and so far earned Rs268 crore nett at the domestic box office.
