Vaani Kapoor to join Akshay Kumar-starrer Bell Bottom?

After a small but important role in last year’s blockbuster War (2019), Vaani Kapoor could be joining actor Akshay Kumar on his period thriller Bell Bottom (2021), directed by Ranjit Tiwari.

According to a report in the daily Mumbai Mirror, the actress has been selected for the female lead. "The script demanded a fresh pairing, Vaani was signed on a week ago and is excited for the shoot with Akshay. It's not the usual female lead, a few romantic scenes, and some songs. She plays Akshay's wife and is integral to the narrative," a source from the production team stated.

Look tests for the cast for the period thriller are expected to take place once the shoot begins. Akshay plays an Indian spy in the film set in the 1980s. Based on real-life incidents, the film is due to be released on 2 April 2021.

Produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, and Nikkhil Advani, Bell Bottom will be shot at multiple locations in September after its star finishes with the action-comedy, Bachchan Pandey. However, with the current travel restrictions and industry shutdown due to the global coronavirus pandemic the start of the film could be delayed.

Kapoor is also starring with Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt in the dacoit film Samshera (2020).
