The fear of coronavirus is forcing people to cancel or postpone important events like weddings. The same is the case with Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal. The couple was supposed to get married next month in April, but now they have postponed their big day to October.

Confirming the news, an official spokesperson told the daily Bombay Times, “Given the current scenario and unfortunate turn of events owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha have decided to postpone their wedding functions to the latter half of 2020, tentatively. They wish for everyone to be healthy and safe and at no cost would they want their friends, families and well-wishers to be affected.”

Chadha and Fazal have worked together in Fukrey (2013) and Fukrey Returns (2017). It is believed that a romance brewed between the two  of them while working in the first film of the franchise.

A friend of Chadha and Fazal added more details on the postponement saying, “It’s not safe to venture out at this time, and we don’t know how long this will go on. Ali’s extended family is based in Canada and owing to travel restrictions they cannot be here in April. The couple is also expecting industry friends from the UK and US, who also won’t be able to be here in April. So, October seems feasible for now. Everything else remains the same, including the venue, outfits planned, and teams involved.”

Similarly, there are reports about actor Varun Dhawan and his girlfriend Natasha Dalal’s wedding being delayed as well, although there isn’t any official confirmation from the couple. They were reportedly due to get married this summer in Thailand.

Currently, the Hindi film industry is going through a shutdown from today, 19 March, to 31 March because of the global coronavirus pandemic.
