After his breakout role in Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (2018), Priyanshu Painyuli is gearing up for his next as he joins the cast of the sports drama, Rashmi Rocket (2020), starring Taapsee Pannu. The actor will play Pannu's husband who supports his wife's journey as a competitive runner in the Akarsh Khurana film.
Painyuli confirmed his involvement in the project. "It’s a matter of great pride for me," he shared in a statement. "Since I come from the defence background, playing a man in uniform is both an honour and responsibility."
The son of a retired colonel, the actor will be playing an army officer in the sports film. Painyuli has previously worked with Akarsh Khurana on his debut High Jack (2018).
"It’s extremely exciting especially after my last [Netflix] film Upstarts, whose universe is so far removed from the world this film is set in. The film will kickstart next month and we'll shoot across Delhi, Kutch, Dehradun, and Mussoorie. It’s a fictional film, but it is inspired by real events," the actor continued.
While Rashmi Rocket is expected to begin shooting next month, all film shoots are currently shut down until 31 March in the wake of the growing global coronavirus pandemic.
Besides Rashmi Rocket, Painyuli is acting in the Netflix original film Extraction, starring Chris Hemsworth, which is due to be streaming online from 24 April.
