I am in quarantine to ensure I don’t catch coronavirus: Dilip Kumar

Saira Banu, the actor's wife and yesteryear actress, recently assured his fans that he is doing well.

Thespian Dilip Kumar has been kept in quarantine to protect him from coronavirus. The information was shared on his official Twitter account last night.

“I am under complete isolation and in quarantine due to the coronavirus outbreak. Saira [Banu] has left nothing to chance, ensuring I do not catch any infection,” he said in a tweet.

Kumar also urged his fans in another tweet to take utmost precaution in order to keep away from the deadly virus. “I appeal to all of you to protect yourself and others by staying indoors as much as possible. The coronavirus outbreak transcends all boundaries and borders. Follow guidelines issued by health departments, protect yourself and others by limiting your exposure to others,” he said. He repeated the same message later in Urdu.

Last Friday, the thespian's wife and veteran actress Saira Banu, had assured his fans that he was doing well. It was in response to speculation surrounding the actor's visit to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. In an audio message, she said, “I am happy to tell you all that Dilip saheb is doing a lot better. He was complaining of backache and had to be taken to Lilavati hospital. So we went, and now we are back.”

The 97-year-old actor has been struggling with age-related issues in the last few years.
