Zee Cine awards: Ranveer Singh is Best Actor, Taapsee Pannu Best Actress

The Zee Cine awards function was held in Mumbai on Friday 13 March without the public. Following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the organizers decided to hold the show with only film stars and technicians in attendance.

The organizers posted a note of regret on Twitter for cancelling the tickets sold to the public earlier. A recording of the event will be telecast on Saturday 28 March on the Zee Cinema and Zee TV satellite channels.

Ranveer Singh won the Best Actor award for his performance in Gully Boy (2019) while Taapsee Pannu took home the Best Actress award for her excellent performance in Badla (2019).

Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy won 10 awards in all, including that for Best Film. Ranveer Singh won three awards — Best Actor, Best On-Screen Pair with Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Viewer’s Choice for Best Actor — whereas his Gully Boy co-star Alia Bhatt was the Viewer’s Choice for Best Actress.

Actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who had a great run last year with three back-to-back hits — Article 15, Bala and Dream Girl — won the Best Entertainer award.
