After starring in Ritesh Batra's Photograph (2019) with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, actress Sanya Malhotra has three releases lined up this year — Shakuntala Devi: Human Computer, Ludo and Pagglait.
The Pataakha (2018) star spoke about preparing for a film role, something she says she thoroughly enjoys. Malhotra will star with Vidya Balan and Jisshu Sengupta, who play her parents, genius mathematician Shakuntala Devi and Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Paritosh Banerjee, respectively, in the film.
"My character in Shakuntala Devi is based on a real person, her daughter Anupama Banerjee," Malhotra said. "I believe 70% of our job is done by the makeup and hair departments. With the look in place, I got into her shoes easily. My director [Anu Menon], too, helped me a lot to understand my character in the movie."
Actor Amit Sadh plays Malhotra's husband in the biopic directed by Menon. Besides Shakuntala Devi: Human Computer, Malhotra will be seen in the ensemble film by Anurag Basu, Ludo, opposite Aditya Roy Kapur and in the Guneet Monga production, Pagglait, which was filmed in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, later this year.
