Dracula Sir poster reveals Anirban Bhattacharya's vampire avatar, Mimi Chakraborty's 1970s look

The official poster of Debaloy Bhattacharya’s upcoming film Dracula Sir (2020) features Anirban Bhattacharya in the titular role. The poster has a sarcastic caution tagline, ‘Drinking blood is injurious to health’, which hints at an inevitable fate related to the journey of becoming a vampire.

With the backdrop of a haunted house, the poster has an abundance of black, to emphasize on the theme of darkness, and features Bhattacharya as a Dracula, with canine teeth, attired in a cape. His teeth can be seen smeared with blood and his eyes are bloodshot too.

Against Bhattacharya’s hooded avatar, Mimi Chakraborty can be seen holding an antique lamp, illuminating the darkness. Also, her look on the poster suggests that she doesn’t hail from contemporary times.

In the film, Bhattacharya plays school teacher Raktim with protruding teeth that earns him the nickname Dracula Sir. Soon he transforms into his rumoured avatar and begins to trace his journey through the past.

Chakrborty plays his love interest Manjari from the past, a character from 1971. However, the love story also includes a tale of revenge that has a close relation with his transformation into Dracula.

According to the maker of Bidaay Byomkesh (2018), Debaloy Bhattacharya, the film deals with the idea of Dracula in a Bengali context, with creating a local myth about it. Though the film is primarily about Raktim, Manjari plays a silent anchor in driving the story ahead.

Dracula Sir slated for release on 1 May.
