With every passing hour, a growing number of Hindi films are having to delay their release date. The latest to face the brunt of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic scare is Rohena Gera's Sir. The film, a festival favourite, was to be released on 20 March, but has now been indefinitely postponed.
Shiladitya Bora of PlatoonOne Films shared the official statement on the social media page. The statement said, "Bearing in mind the health concerns and the advisory from the health ministry, we have decided to postpone the release of Sir."

Made in 2018, the film travelled to the Cannes Film Festival 2018, as well as the Brussels International Film Festival that year. It won the Gan Foundation Award for Distribution at the Cannes Film Festival, while Tillotama Shome was presented with the Best Actress award at the Brussels International Film Festival.
The Indian release of the film was announced in February 2020, but in view of recent developments, the makers of the film seem to have taken the decision to postpone its release date.
Sir follows the announcements of the Rohit Shetty-directed Sooryavanshi, which has also been postponed indefinitely. Theatres in the states of Delhi, Kerala, Odisha, and the union territory of Jammu have been shut for the month of March.
