Baaghi 3 saw a jump in numbers on Tuesday, the day of Holi, as it earned Rs13.50 crore nett. The film performed decently the following day as well, amassing Rs7.50 crore nett. However, the Tiger Shroff-starrer saw a fall in numbers yesterday as it earned only Rs4.75 crore nett, according to figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
The Ahmed Khan-directed film has clearly underperformed unlike Baaghi 2 (2018), the previous film in the franchise, which was a blockbuster. It had earned Rs110.81 crore nett in the first week. On the other hand, Baaghi 3 only made Rs87.25 crore nett in the same period. According to trade sources, the film has been made at a budget of around Rs100 crore.
Baaghi 3 has not received good reviews, but that was also the case with Baaghi 2. However, the fact that many people are avoiding crowded places like cinema halls due to the coronavirus fear, could also account for it performing below expectations.
Meanwhile, numbers for the Taapsee Pannu-starrer Thappad also showed a downward trend after Holi. The Anubhav Sinha-directed film made Rs50 lakh yesterday, taking its overall earnings to Rs29.29 crore nett.
The release of the Irrfan Khan-starrer Angrezi Medium is expected to affect both the films. The Homi Adajania-directed film has been released in 1500 screens across India.
