The battle of independent music composers against big music companies continues. In the latest round, composer DJ Ritviz has raised the question of the use of his song 'Udd Gaye' in the T-Series album for the Kartik Aaryan-Bhumi Pednekar starrer, Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019).
The composer shared a snippet of the film featuring the song 'Udd Gaye'. The song was originally composed by Ritviz as an independent single. A remade version was later used as part of the film, in the background. However, the song was not released on any public platform or in the official album for the film.
The composer also took to Twitter to post a part of his statement raising questions of propriety. Denying that he had been approached for the rights to the song by any composer or music label, Ritviz wrote, 'I'd like to clear the air and say that neither I nor my appointed management/publisher/distributor had any role to play in this nor was any adaptation licence for my song 'Udd Gaye' taken by any music company in any part of the world.'

Pati Patni Aur Woh was directed by Mudassar Aziz and featured Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Pandey in the lead roles. The film went on to make a collection of Rs80 crore at the domestic box office, as per BoxOfficeIndia.com, and become a hit.
Ritviz has not said yet if he would seek legal recourse, nor has the production house issued any statement. Here is DJ Ritviz's original song. The version used in the film does seem to use elements of the original.
