Hruta Durgule, a popular face on Marathi television, makes her film debut with Ananya (2020), where she plays the titular character. The film is written and directed by Pratap Phad, who also directed the play on which the movie is based. The role of Ananya was played by Rutuja Bagwe in the play.
On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the makers of Ananya released the first teaser of the film. The teaser shows Ananya (Durgule) following a rigorous training regime. It seems she is a sprinter, who is preparing for a competition.
The teaser has no dialogues, but the void is filled with heart-pumping music. The electronic guitar riff perfectly complements the visuals.
Durgule has a big fan following among youngsters, and it will be interesting to see if the makers can get these fans into the theaters for a serious film.
The play tells the story of an ambitious young Ananya, whose dreams are shattered by one unfortunate incident. Will she ever go back to being the old happy-go-lucky Ananya?
The film is produced by Dreamweaver Entertainment and Ravi Jadhav films. It is expected to release in theatres on 21 June.
