Actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani is joining hands with Juno Chopra of BR Films for the remake of The Burning Train (1980). Chopra's previous remakes from BR Films includes Ittefaq (2017) and Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019).
The Burning Train, starring Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Vinod Khanna, Parveen Babi, among others, is a cult film about the debut run of the country's fastest train, Super Express, which is sabotaged by a former contractor. The film was directed by Juno's father, the late Ravi Chopra.
"The Burning Train is a film that I grew up watching, and I'm sure many of us did," co-producer Bhagnani said in a press release. "It's a classic in Bollywood [Hindi cinema] and I'm thrilled to be working with my dear friend Juno to try and recreate the magic that Ravi Chopra sir had done years ago. It's a film with its heart in the right place and we are all set to give it our all."
"I'm very excited about this collaboration and The Burning Train has always been my all-time favourite. It was directed by my dad, I am very excited to make my version of the film. Currently, we're on the verge of signing the director as well as the lead cast, which will be our next announcement," Juno added.
Bhagnani's Pooja Entertainment also has Coolie No.1 (2020) with Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan due to release on 1 May. They are also producing Bell Bottom (2021) with Akshay Kumar in the lead. The latter is a remake of the 2019 Kannada film directed by Jayatheertha.
