Sunny Deol signs untitled action-thriller, excited about role

After launching his son Karan Deol in Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas (2019), which he directed, Sunny Deol is now back to acting. He has just signed a yet-to-titled, action thriller, which will see Telugu filmmaker Hanu Raghavapudi make his directorial debut in Hindi films. 

Deol makes it clear that even though the director is from the south, the film is not a remake of a south movie. “No, it's not a remake of any south film, but a different and very interesting subject, full of action, suspense and thrills,” he said in an official statement. 

Deol also claimed that he has not played such a character before. “The character is different from the work I have done till date, though it is too early to say anything about my character now. But all I can say [is that] it surely requires me to put in some extra effort. Hopefully I will be able to achieve what it demands,” he added. 

Produced by Anuj Sharma, the film is currently in the pre-production stage and will go on floors by the beginning of April. Sharma was the associate producer for Apne (2007), which featured the actor along with Bobby Deol and Dharmendra. Sharma was the producer for Singh Saab The Great (2013), which had Deol in the lead. His last produced film was the Rishi Kapoor-starrer Jhootha Kahin Ka (2019). 

Speaking about his association with Deol, Sharma said, “Sunny Deol and my family have always shared a great bond. He is a fantastic and exceptional actor and it would be great to work with him again after Apne and Singh Saab The Great. When we first first met Sunny with the story, he was very excited about it. He has been in constant touch with the team about how the movie is shaping up. We plan on revealing the first look soon,” he added.  

Raghavapudi is excited to have Deol on board. “It's like a dream come true for me as Sunny sir also loved the script and is equally excited about the film. He has already begun preparing for his look and is spending more time in the gym since his look requires a different kind of sculpted body. The movie will have some daredevil action sequences, and there is no bigger action star than him,” he said.
